 About us

Ensci trains industrial designers in five, four or three-years depending on the entry level of successful applicants to the School.
Some 35 students are admitted each year. Admission is solely by means of an examination open to all French and non-French applicants proficient in French and meeting the level criteria*.

In all cases, the final year of study focuses on the degree and culminates with a public viva voce in which the student submits an analysis of his or her career at the School, a dissertation and a study conclusion project. The ENSCI industrial designer degree has received level II authorisation by the French State.

Tuition is divided into two phases, an ‘initiation’ phase and a ‘further study’ phase, each lasting two years, for the five years curriculum. In both phases students spend half of their time on projects in studios, the other half in theoretical and practical tuition in all the fields of knowledge required to have a thorough understanding of design and industrial creation.

The choice of project studios and the sequence of courses are personalised for each student during regular meetings with faculty staff during which students’ needs are assessed and a program is devised for each half-year and from year to year. ENSCI thus offers students a personalised curriculum that not only meets the teaching issues raised by each student but also focuses on educating designers who are capable of independently ‘positioning themselves’ in all kinds of industrial design fields.

The student’s position is expected for the degree course both in the analysis of the curriculum provided in the dissertation and in the project which must evidence personal research and thinking.

The admission session for the entrance examination, the only mean of being admitted to the Ensci is held in April-May-June.

Degree viva voce sessions are held in March, July and December.
