The Board of Governors determines the general direction of the school, the programme of activities and the measures related to the internal organization and functioning of the school. It makes decisions concerning the budget (annual projection of revenue and expenditure and changes) and the funds account.

Each board member has a substitute, designated in the same way as the incumbent.
The tenure of office of the student representatives is one year, renewable. Tenure of office of the other administrators is three years, renewable.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors is appointed by decree by the President of the French Republic, following proposals of the ministers of Culture and of Industry, from amongst the persons qualified.
The Board meets a minimum of three times a year, when convened by the president.
The Director of the school, the government commissioner, the state controller and the accounting officer all attend board meetings in an advisory capacity. The Chairman of the Board can also request that any person whose presence he may judge useful attend meetings in an advisory capacity.
All questions with financial implications are first examined by the school’s Financial Committee before being submitted to the Board of Governors. The Financial Committee consists of the Director of the school, the government commissioner, the state controller, two representatives from the Ministry of Culture, two representatives from the Ministry of Industry, the accounting officer, the General Secretary and the head of finance.
