Forms of Practice : Practice of Forms. New practices for new objects.
Formes des pratiques : pratiques des formes. Les nouvelles pratiques pour des nouveaux objets.
How small design studios have adapted to working and living abroad.
Conversation will investigate implications of foreign designers working abroad, confronting notions or hegemony, place, purpose, and citizenship. Participants will share both experiences and challenges of practicing design and finding identity in a globalized world.
Paris and New York share histories of liberty, luxury, poverty, immigration, and strong national identity. Through the lens of their respective metropolis, the panelists will explore cultural difference and likeness through a series of questions on themes including the modernist promise, the disappearing middle class, future thinking and their daily practice.
