We offer an exchange programme each semester. Application deadlines are:
- May 1st for the first semester (early September to mid-February)
- November 1st for the second semester (early February to mid-July)
We don't offer exchange for the full year (except for MEDes students).
Tuition is free but an exchange programme does not lead to any diploma.
Selection, integration and tutoring are the responsibility of International Department.
We take up to 15 exchange students each semester. 40% of these students are pre-selected from the MEDes programme (Master of European Design). The selection is very competitive as we have many ongoing exchange partnerships with schools throughout the world.
You must apply as a student from one of our partner schools or universities and follow the exchange procedure at your home institution.
Then to apply, please fill out the on-line application form and send us the following documents by post before the deadline:
- Letter from your institution confirming that you had been selected to apply to our exchange programme
- Portfolio, printed (it will be given back to the accepted students once at school)
- Letter of motivation
- CV / resume
- Transcript of records of the last two years
- French examination score (if applicable)
Please send a motivation letter (not a formal letter but some personal writing about who you are, why you want to come to ENSCI-Les Ateliers, what is your particular interest in design…). Your portfolio will show us some examples of your academic work and personal work. A video interview will also be held.
You obviously need to be very motivated, and to be willing to work and communicate in French. Although we have an English-speaking project studio, almost everything at ENSCI-Les Ateliers happens in French. For a meaningful exchange period it is essential to arrive with a basic working knowledge of the language.
Contact your local Alliance Française or French Embassy if you need help with language lessons before departure, and for information about bursaries and visas.
Please also note that we do not provide accomodation in Paris.
• we do not offer student accommodation
• as mentioned above, there is no tuition fee but:
In all cases you will have to pay for Third Party insurance cover (public liability). Such insurance is to be taken through the companies that offer specifics insurances to students
If you are under 28 and if your home institution is not in the EU: you will have to pay the French Social Security contribution (National Health System). This contribution is mandatory even if you already have medical insurance, and has to be paid at school when you arrive.
