Flexible garden

Stiff, slippery and stretched surfaces

Marie Simon-Thomas' diploma project in Industrial Design.

When combined with rigid materials in lightweight assemblies, flexible surfaces make it possible to create shapes that are easily foldable and un-foldable. “Jardin Souple” uses this principle to revisit four garden objects - a plant protector, a personal parasol, a privacy screen and a domestic greenhouse - in which clarity of design and economy of form are achieved by tensioning, sliding, clamping and similar techniques.
