LOOKING FOR AN INTERN?

INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER

The 5-year ENSCI-Industrial Design course awards successful students its Industrial Designer Master’s degree qualification. A vocational internship with a company is an integral part of the curriculum and usually takes place in Phase 2 of the course, between Years 3 and 4.

The internship must enable the student to be practically involved in design and creativity, and wherever possible under the supervision of a designer.

To be approved, internships must run for at least 4 months. Internship periods coincide with university academic years and begin either at the end of August/beginning of September or between mid-February and the beginning of March, bearing in mind that actual internship dates are subject to approval by the education service (relative to the start date of the following semester and/or educational deadlines of the student, assessment panels or other parties).

Approval is based on an assessment of the internship supervisor (assessment grid provided), the student internship report and the verbal presentation made by the student during dedicated sessions.

All our approved internships are agreed in writing and, according to French law, involve the payment of remuneration to the intern.

TEXTILE DESIGNER

The 4-year ENSCI-Textile Design Master’s degree course is open to students who have completed 2 or 3 years of further education. A vocational internship with a company is an integral part of the curriculum, and takes place in the first semester of Year 3.

The internship must enable the student to be practically involved in textile design across its various fields of application, and wherever possible under the supervision of a design manager.

To be approved, internships must run for at least 4 months in the period between the end of August/beginning of September and the end of January.

Approval is based on an assessment of the internship supervisor (questionnaire provided) and the student’s written report.

All our approved internships are agreed in writing and, according to French law, involve the payment of remuneration to the intern.

LEGISLATION RELATING TO INTERN REMUNERATION

In accordance with French law 2013-660 of 22/7/2013 relating to further education and research, and law 2014-788 of 10/7/2014 relating to the supervision of training periods in the workplace and internships, interns must receive remuneration for internships of more than two months duration (one month = 22 days of internship, whether consecutive or otherwise).

The amount of remuneration may be set either with reference to the standard industry agreement, extended industry agreement or relevant decree.

Decree 2014-1420 of 27/11/2014 sets the increase in remuneration as follows:
- 15% of the Social Security hourly maximum, with effect from 1 September 2015

Based on 154 hours per month
The Social Security hourly maximum increased to €25 on 1/1/2018
So the amount payable from 1/1/2018 is €577.50.

The intern receives this amount monthly, starting from the first month of the internship. It is not treated as a salary, and is therefore not subject to social security deductions.
