Each year, the school selects about thirty foreign students to partipate in a semester of studies at ENSCI. The reception of students is the subject of an agreement and a study contract established between ENSCI and the partner organization. The school currently has nearly 80 partner schools and universities around the world. Candidates are often shorlisted by their home school. They are then invited to send a file (letter of motivation, personal works) for the selection by the ENSCI, which takes place twice a year (mid-May, mid-November).
Classes are mainly conducted in French. However, we do occasionally give some classes and seminars in English and 1 major project studio is English-speaking.
Level required in French: A2
Level required in English: B1
— May 1st for the first semester (September to mid-February)
— November 1st for the second semester (February to mid-July)
We offer an interdisciplinary design approach with individualised programming and project-based learning. Interdisciplinary approach means our programme is not structured in separate “majors” or tracks.
One semester’s programme for each student consists of the following:
- 1 major project studio (15 ECTS)
- 1 minor project studio (3 ECTS)
- 1 or 2 seminar weeks (3 ECTS each)
- 2 or 3 weekly classes (3 ECTS each)
Since the major project studios are often projects with industry partners, they differ each semester. It is therefore rarely possible to inform students in advance of the fields covered in upcoming semesters and / or the specific skills the project will focus on.
Learning agreement are therefore subject to modifications in respect of Erasmus+ charters.
At the beginning of the semester, we organise tutoring sessions for exchange students either in a group or individually to determine the programme that would best match, diversify, or enhance their profile and practice.
Please note that the enrolment is also subject to:
—the number of places available in the classes, and
—the French language skills of the student.
The pedagogical program of ongoing semester is available in French for reference upon request by email.
Born of a political will in 1982, the École Nationale Supérieure de Creation Industrielle (ENSCI - Les Ateliers) is the only national school exclusively devoted to industrial creation and design.
